Teira's “Woods Vineyard” is located in the Southern end of Dry Creek Valley. The Valley is home to over 9,000 acres of vineyards that line the intimate 16-mile long by 2-mile wide valley floor. The vineyard sits on Dry Creek, which hasn't been dry since 1982. The Russian River Valley appellation is only 2 miles south, providing for cool nights filled with fog and hot days to ripen the grapes.
The slow and steady development of our fruit leads to the perfect balance we look for when measuring sugar, acidity, and maturity in our grapes. This is a good thing, because wines from our area are known for having great balance and bright acidity. Balance, structure and fruit-forward flavors are hallmarks of each of our wines.
The vineyard was planted between 1992 and 2006. The soils and subsoils are made up of rich, clay loam. Our fruit is always hand harvested when possible, minimizing vineyard degradation and assuring long term health and productivity of the vines. Teira's “Woods Vineyard” boasts 20 acres of delicious Sauvignon Blanc, 4 acres of rich Zinfandel, and 32 acres of elegant Merlot.
